About these terms
These terms govern the Doppel Mac app, our website, and the authorization, licensing, and support services we provide with them (together, “Doppel”). “We,” “us,” and “our” refer to the provider of Doppel. Contact hello@doppelapp.ai about these terms.
When these terms are presented for acceptance, accept them only if you are legally able to enter the agreement. If you accept on behalf of an organization, you must have authority to bind it. Do not use the product where doing so would violate applicable law.
The Privacy policy describes data handling. A purchase is also subject to the price, billing interval, and purchase terms shown at checkout. Mandatory consumer rights apply regardless of anything in these terms.
Your software license
Subject to these terms and any purchased entitlement, we grant you a personal or internal-business, non-exclusive license to install and use Doppel on the devices permitted by your plan. The software is licensed, not sold. You may use generated work in your own personal or commercial activities.
Paid features require a valid entitlement. Activation and periodic license renewal may require an internet connection; keep license keys and recovery information secure. A device activation identifies an authorized installation and does not give us access to its work library. The current hardware requirements and plan limits are described on the download and plan comparison pages.
You may not resell access, distribute unauthorized copies or license keys, bypass license or security controls, or use Doppel to access another person’s device, account, or data without permission. You may not reverse engineer proprietary components except where applicable law permits it despite this restriction.
Open-source components and model files may have separate licenses or notices. Those licenses govern those components and are not restricted by these terms. The Doppel name, design, and proprietary software remain ours or our licensors’.
Your content and responsibilities
You retain your rights in the files, recordings, messages, prompts, and other material you use with Doppel. We do not acquire ownership of your library. Local processing does not give us a license to publish, sell, or train general-purpose AI models on your content. To provide a connected action or support request you authorize, you permit us and the relevant service providers to handle only the information needed for that purpose, as described in the Privacy policy.
You are responsible for having the rights and permissions needed to process or share the material you select. This includes employer policies, confidentiality obligations, recording notices and consent, and permissions for other people’s personal information. A macOS permission dialog is not consent from the other participants in a meeting.
Do not use Doppel for unlawful surveillance, fraud, harassment, infringement, unauthorized access, or activity that compromises other people’s rights or the security of a service. Maintain backups of information that matters to you. Local storage is not a backup service.
AI assistance and approved actions
AI output can be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect, even when it includes sources. Check important claims and review generated messages, summaries, decisions, and files before relying on them. Doppel is not a substitute for professional medical, legal, financial, or other regulated advice.
To the extent we have rights in output generated for you, we assign those rights to you. This does not guarantee that output is unique, copyrightable, or free of third-party rights.
Review the destination, content, and effect of an action before approving it. Scheduled or previously authorized work may run within the permissions you gave it; revoke or change those permissions when your intent changes. Actions in another app can have consequences that an undo in Doppel cannot reverse.
Approving an action, routine, or automation authorizes the work described in that approval within its permissions. It does not grant unlimited access to unrelated accounts or authorize us to publish your content for our own purposes. Review automatic and recurring work when your requirements change.
Trials, plans, and payment
The current Pro trial lasts 30 days and starts when the local assistant and search models are ready. It requires no card, Doppel account, or automatic charge. Unless you purchase a plan, the app continues on Free after the trial. A purchase starts its paid term at checkout; unused trial time does not postpone billing.
Paid plans and any applicable taxes are disclosed before purchase. Recurring subscriptions renew at the interval and price you accept at checkout until canceled. We will provide any legally required notice before a price change affects a renewal. External providers may charge separately for their services.
Paddle handles checkout as merchant of record. Its buyer terms govern the purchase, payment processing, and applicable purchase remedies; these terms govern your use of Doppel. If a payment fails, expires, is refunded, or is charged back, paid access may end according to the license and purchase status.
A Lifetime offer, when available, provides a perpetual Pro feature entitlement rather than a recurring subscription. It is not a guarantee of indefinite support, third-party API availability, hosted services, or compatibility with every future operating system. The offer available at purchase controls what is included.
Cancellation and refunds
Manage or cancel a subscription from Settings → Plan or the billing-management link provided with your purchase. Cancellation normally stops renewal at the end of the paid term unless checkout or the billing portal states otherwise. Deleting the app or disconnecting an integration does not itself cancel billing.
When the paid term and any applicable grace period end, Doppel returns to Free limits. Cancellation, trial expiry, or a downgrade does not delete your local library. Access to some retained history and premium functions may be limited until you renew.
For a refund, purchase problem, or applicable withdrawal right, use the support route in your Paddle receipt or contact us at hello@doppelapp.ai. Applicable law and the buyer terms presented at purchase determine the remedy. These terms do not impose a blanket “no refunds” rule or waive mandatory rights.
Connected services
Doppel includes optional connectors for third-party accounts. You choose which accounts to connect and which permissions to grant; enabling a connection can authorize ongoing synchronization as well as individual requests. You are responsible for having authority to connect the account. Connected providers’ terms, pricing, and privacy practices govern their services. The same applies to external search, weather, downloads, and apps you choose to use.
Most connected content requests run directly between your Mac and the provider. Some account authorization and refresh flows pass through our Cloudflare-hosted relay. That relay and the connector software we supply remain part of our service; choosing to connect an account does not transfer our responsibilities to you or the provider. Our Privacy policy explains this distinction.
An integration may stop working if the provider changes its API, restricts access, or suspends your account. We will make reasonable efforts to describe material limitations, but cannot guarantee an external service’s continued availability. Disconnecting a provider does not undo work already submitted to it.
Availability and beta features
Doppel is currently offered in private beta. Some capabilities, including Labs features, may change or have incomplete behavior. Hardware, macOS permissions, storage, and local model readiness affect which features can run. Check the setup guide and current plan description before purchasing.
We may update the software to fix issues, improve security, or change supported features. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. If a material change affects a paid entitlement, we will provide notice and any remedy required by your purchase terms or applicable law. These terms do not give us permission to erase your local work because a subscription ends.
Ending use and suspension
You may stop using Doppel at any time. Cancel a recurring subscription separately if you want to stop future charges, and use the app’s storage controls to remove local data you no longer want.
We may suspend hosted access or revoke a license for a material breach, fraud, unlawful use, or a security threat. Where reasonable and lawful, we will explain the reason and provide an opportunity to resolve it. Immediate restrictions may be necessary to address an active threat or legal obligation.
Termination does not transfer ownership of your content to us. Provisions intended to survive, including content ownership, accrued payment obligations, and applicable liability rules, continue as necessary.
Warranties and liability
We will provide the service with reasonable care. Except for express commitments we make and rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, the software and AI output are provided on an “as available” basis. We do not warrant that the product will meet every purpose or that generated output will always be accurate.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you accepted these terms, or for a third party’s independent conduct. We remain responsible where applicable law makes us responsible.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, deliberate misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence where protected by law, or any other liability or consumer remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded. These terms do not require arbitration or waive class-action rights.
Changes and contact
We may revise these terms. We will date the revised version and give reasonable notice of material changes through an appropriate channel. Changes apply prospectively. Where a change requires your agreement, we will obtain it rather than treating a website edit as your acceptance.
If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. A failure to enforce a provision immediately does not waive the right to enforce it later. Any separate written agreement with you controls where it expressly conflicts with these terms.
