Before you start.
A Dropbox account with access to the folders and files you want to read.
What you can do
- Browse folders and search files by name or content.
- Read supported documents in chat, including text, PDF, DOCX, XLSX, and PPTX files.
Connect Dropbox.
Find Dropbox in Doppel.
Open Settings → Integrations → Add integration. Select Dropbox, then Connect.
Choose your Dropbox account.
Sign in to the account that holds the files you need. Review the file-reading permissions before approving.
Return to Doppel.
Finish the browser authorization, then return to Settings → Integrations. Check that access was granted before trying the example below.
Choose what to remember.
With Pro or the trial, use Manage sources to remember selected content and assign it to a project. This is an additional, separately authorized connection.
Open Manage sources.
Go to Settings → Integrations → Manage sources. In Selected sources, choose Add account. This is separate from Add integration.
Add the source account.
Select the service and give the account a label. Sign in to the account that owns the source, or approve macOS access for Apple Calendar and Reminders. This account is stored separately from your primary integration connection.
Choose where the source belongs.
Select Choose source. Set Use in to the intended Doppel project, or All-work chats only. A source assigned to one project cannot be requested from another project’s chat.
Select what to remember.
Enter a source name and the folder path, such as /Client work/Harbor.
Check the import.
Choose Add source, then inspect its coverage and Last complete sync. Use Sync now to refresh it. Ask a question in the project you assigned, or an All-work chat if you chose All-work chats only.
What this imports
The selected folder and subfolders, for supported text documents up to 10 MB. Images, media, and unsupported formats are excluded.
Check each source’s coverage and Last complete sync. If access becomes unavailable, the source is excluded from answers until a complete sync succeeds.
Start with something you know
Check the connection.
Find the project brief in Dropbox.
Use a file name you know, then ask to read that file. Check its path to distinguish similarly named documents.
Data and permissions.
Search and file requests go to Dropbox. Read files on demand, or use Manage sources to import selected folders and subfolders into local memory.
Current limits
Read-only. No uploading, editing, or deleting Dropbox files. Reading depends on the file format and is limited to 10 MB per extracted file. Scanned or protected documents may not provide readable text.
Disconnect or change access.
In Settings → Integrations, open this service’s menu and choose Disconnect. This stops new requests from Doppel. You can also revoke its access in the provider’s account settings. Content you already saved in chats or exported is managed separately.
Selected-source accounts are separate. In Manage sources, remove an individual source or disconnect its account to remove those imported copies and credentials. Disconnecting the primary integration alone does not remove a separately authorized source account. Provider originals, saved chats, and exports are managed separately.
If something isn’t working.
A file is not in local Search
An on-demand read does not import a whole folder. Add the folder in Manage sources and check its sync coverage, or ask chat to search Dropbox directly. Verify that the file is accessible to the connected account. For a read error, try a supported document under 10 MB and confirm that it contains readable text.
