Before you start.
An Asana account allowed to create a personal access token and access the intended project, plus Doppel Pro or the trial.
What you can do
- Import a selected project’s tasks, descriptions, custom fields, assignees, dates, completion state, and available discussion.
- Create a reviewed task in a selected project; read back the created result to confirm it.
Connect Asana.
Create an Asana personal access token.
Open Asana’s developer console at app.asana.com/0/my-apps. Create a new token, give it a recognizable name such as Doppel, and copy it. The token acts with your account’s permissions.
Open Manage sources.
Go to Settings → Integrations → Manage sources. In Selected sources, choose Add account. This is separate from Add integration.
Add your Asana account.
In Add account, choose Asana, enter a recognizable Account label, paste the key into API key or personal access token, and choose Add account. Doppel saves the credential in macOS Keychain.
Choose where the source belongs.
Select Choose source. Set Use in to the intended Doppel project, or All-work chats only. A source assigned to one project cannot be requested from another project’s chat.
Identify the project.
Enter a Source name and the Asana Project ID (the project’s numeric identifier, not a task ID or the entire URL). Select Add source. Repeat for each project you want to remember.
Check the import.
Choose Add source, then inspect its coverage and Last complete sync. Use Sync now to refresh it. Ask a question in the project you assigned, or an All-work chat if you chose All-work chats only.

Compare a task’s assignee, due date, and completion state with Asana. Before creating a task, review its destination project and content.
Data and permissions.
Selected project content is retrieved directly from Asana and imported on your Mac. An approved task creation sends its content to that Asana project.
Current limits
This connection does not import every workspace project. Subtask bodies need their own membership in the selected project. Task creation is supported; general editing, completion, and deletion of existing Asana tasks are not exposed by this connection.
Disconnect or change access.
In Settings → Integrations → Manage sources, select this account. Choose Remove source to remove one imported source, or the account menu → Disconnect account to remove its credentials and selected imports. Provider originals remain unchanged. Saved chats and exports are separate; revoke an API key at the provider if you also want to invalidate it there.
If something isn’t working.
A project cannot be imported
Check the Project ID, the token owner’s project membership, and your organization’s API policy. A failed or incomplete sync is shown in Manage sources; it does not establish that the saved copy is current.
